I stayed up way too late last night, working on the Mobypic problem with Twitter. It’s resolved today and I was able to make a few Mobypic posts to test it out. You never know when this technology will bite you in the ass.
That maybe some of that thought is behind the recent government moves to regulate the Internet. Unless you were under a rock, I am sure all heard or participated in the SOPA/PIPA Blackout last Wednesday. The message was heard and Congress has back down on this Bill. As could only be thought of as a coincidence, but highly ironic, the G-men shut down the Megaupload file sharing site the next day. Thus began an Anonymous War that saw massive denial of service attacks against several websites, Universal Music, DOJ, FBI, & others. Such attacks cannot help the cause though. It just feeds the fear and gives Congress the righteous dignity to fight back.
Now why would a low level blogger such as myself focus on this instead of filling these pages with raunchy gloryhole sex verbage & pictures? Because these type of fights always have collateral damage. And Blogs like mine will suffer as part of that collateral damage.
I really don’t have the answers. Just want to voice my small bit in this basic bid for Freedom of Speech. The Internet is not the Wild West of Old anymore. Google changed that by reworking their search engines to guide your searches to more commercial results. Also, you must realize that nothing is for free. Torrents, file sharing sites, ect cost money to maintain. You have to peel off a few greenbacks to access these things for the most part. Taking without giving back just leads to nothing being left to share.
It was quite a Soapbox moment today, but I do hope you understand the reason why. I will go back to the good stuff now.
